About the Baja Buckeyes
Baja Buckeyes are a student organization built to develop members’ understanding of the automotive and power sports businesses and provide hands-on experiences that expand knowledge of engineering and fabrication practices. As a student-managed off-road race team, the group strives to present challenges to members, enabling them to learn the important elements of project management, business management, and engineering design.
Each year, our team has the task of designing, fabricating, and racing an off-road vehicle to compete with various other universities and colleges around the world in annual Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) competitions.
We design our vehicles from scratch each year and fabricate most of each vehicle in our Student Projects Shop at the Center for Automotive Research (CAR). At the SAE competitions at the end of each year, the vehicle is judged on design, functionality, performance, cost, and business prospect. Our team allows students, faculty, and members of the community to gather resources and knowledge to continuously improve upon both our vehicle's design and our skills and abilities as engineers. This team is a non-profit student motorsports organization through The Ohio State College of Engineering.
